2023 - Amsterdam
Fabric of time consits out of 7 metal frames of 5x5 meters, with a hole in it. These are placed in an angle. Each circle has a different size. Around these frames is strung a netting. The light is casted from the side with a spotlight. There is a stand holding up all the frames and keeps it in place. The planes are the pages of the book of our lifes. Each hole in every frame represents a ritual. The more years are added and the ritual gets repeated, the more the rituals seem to be creating a wormhole through our lifetime, connecting everything together and bending the Fabric of Time. The stand is also a reference to time. It’s structre looks like the markings of an annalog clock. Referencing the time passing with each page turn.
The vistors will experience almost the opposit during the day and night. During the day this artwork is a black sculpture, while during night the artwork is lighten up. Therefor it always creates a contrast with it’s apperance. This way the visitors can discover this artwork twice. Visitors can also look at this artwork in different directions. Looking from the sides and the back they will notice a phenomenon. Like a wormhole that goes under the water. While in the front they will get sucked into the hole, trying to figure out where it will lead to.
